Karen Widdowson

Karen Widdowson currently serves as the Head of Democracy & Monitoring Officer at Charnwood Borough Council, overseeing committee administration, councillor training, and Mayoralty responsibilities, along with acting as the Deputy Monitoring Officer. In addition, Karen holds the position of Independent Person for both Sheffield City Council and Barnsley Council. Since 2012, Karen has contributed to the Association of Democratic Services Officers as a qualifications assessor and trainer, mentoring individuals through relevant certification programs. Previous roles include Democratic and Members' Services Manager at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Members' Services Manager at London Borough of Ealing, and various positions within Hampshire County Council and Lancaster City Council. Karen possesses extensive knowledge of local government procedures and constitutional issues, supported by a solid educational background in management studies and business finance.
