Brad Coburn

Chief Investment Officer & Co-Founder at Charter School Capital, Inc.

Coburn was assessing which career would best match his skills to give him a stable and rewarding career after graduation. With a gift for numbers, he studied economics, receiving a degree with honors the University of California at Berkeley. There he met his future co-founder Stuart Ellis.

Brad first launched his finance career at investment firm Credit Suisse First Boston. His entrepreneurial spirit first took roots when he opened a health club in San Francisco (and yes, you should ask him how much he can bench press). Brad went on to receive an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. While working for a large financial institution in securitized finance, Stuart contacted him about the opportunity to aid charter schools. Brad’s knowledge of secured debt, real estate and financial transactions are invaluable pillars to the company’s foundation.

When Brad’s not working on building up capital from investors to support our charter school clients, he enjoys extreme outdoor sports like heli-skiing and mountain cycling. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids in Larkspur, CA.
