Mabel L. has a diverse range of work experience spanning over two decades. Mabel most recently worked as Vice President, Seed at the Charter School Growth Fund since July 2020. Prior to that, they were a Senior Lead at The TenSquare Group from September 2014 to June 2020. In 2014, they also worked as a Summer Lecturer in the Academic Achievement Program at the University of Maryland. Mabel has held various roles at different educational institutions, including Founding Principal at Uncommon Schools from March 2008 to July 2013, Literacy Chair and Founding Literacy Teacher at Boston Prep from August 2004 to June 2008, and 6th and 8th grade Literacy Teacher at Roxbury Prep Charter School, Uncommon Schools from August 2003 to June 2004. Mabel began their career as an English Teacher at Clarkstown Central School District from August 2002 to June 2003. Additionally, Mabel has experience in curriculum development and teaching at Exploration Intermediate Summer Program as Curriculum Director, Residential Director, Residential Advisor, and Teacher from June 1998 to June 2003, and as a Graduate Assistant Lead and Teaching Artist at Creative Arts Team from August 2000 to May 2002. Mabel also worked as a Level 2 Teacher at The New England Center for Children from September 1999 to May 2000.
Mabel L. completed their Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Theater, and Dance with Magna Cum Laude honors at Amherst College from 1995 to 1999. Mabel pursued further education at New York University, where they earned a Master's degree in Educational Theatre and English Education from 2000 to 2003. In 2007, Mabel attended Boston University to obtain an Admin Certification in School Leadership. Mabel also took coursework in Special Education at Simmons University from 1999 to 2000. Mabel's secondary education was at Bronx High School of Science until 1995. Currently, they are attending Kellogg Executive Education for Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management.
