Vanessa Chapman

Vanessa has more than 20 years’ experience as a senior corporate lawyer and company secretary in top-tier private practice and in-house financial services legal roles. She has significant experience as a trusted adviser to boards and business leaders on legal, risk and compliance issues, delivery of ASX Corporate Governance practices and managing operational risk and compliance functions. Her expertise covers technology, procurement, cybersecurity, data governance and privacy, intellectual property and competition.

Vanessa joins Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand from NPP Australia – an industry joint venture established to build and operate real time interbank payments – where she was General Counsel / Company Secretary and responsible for the development of the company’s corporate, legal, risk management, regulatory engagement and governance functions.

In her role at CA ANZ, Vanessa is focused on enhancing the organisation’s governance and assurance practices and building on the strong foundations the Legal, Governance and Risk, Compliance & Operational Excellence teams have in place.

Vanessa holds a BA (Econ.)/LLB and Master of Laws (Corporate and Commercial) from University of New South Wales and a graduate of the Australian Institute Company Directors.

She is also a member of these professional bodies: Fellow Governance Institute of Australia, Law Society of New South Wales, Australian Corporate Lawyers Association, Australian Information Security Association and Risk Management Institute Australia.
