Director (delivery Excellence) at Chartered Trading Standards Institute

Andrew Allen has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Andrew began their career as a Production Manager at Iceberg (South) Ltd. in 1988 before moving on to work as a General Assistant at Tesco Stores Plc from 1994 to 1999. Allen then joined Cornwall County Council in 1998 as a Trading Standard Consumer Advisor and later took on the role of Trading Standards Enforcement Officer. During their time at Cornwall County Council, they achieved significant milestones, such as implementing a more efficient departmental structure and managing a high-profile scheme involving 600 companies. In 1999, Allen transitioned to the role of Consumer Support Officer at Cornwall County Council, where they led a team of advisors and achieved notable successes in increasing contact handling and reducing response time. Following this, they worked as a Contact Centre Operations Manager at Swercots Ltd, managing a call center and leading various projects. Allen then worked as a self-employed consultant and trainer, assisting contact centers in improving performance and quality and achieving substantial financial gains. Andrew went on to hold positions at the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, including Director European Consumer Centre UK and Director of Operations. Currently, Allen serves as a Non-Executive Director at The Consumer Codes Approval Scheme, where they approve codes of practice to raise standards in consumer law compliance and customer service.

Andrew Allen has a diverse education history. In 1995, they attended the University of Plymouth and obtained a LLB Law Degree with a second class honors. Andrew then pursued further education in management by attending the University of Coventry from 2003 to 2004, where they acquired a Masters Degree in Management. In 2002, Andrew also completed an ILM Diploma in Management from Truro College. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Small Business Finance from the International Association of Bookkeepers and a Thomson Call Centre Management Diploma from the Open Learning College in 2006. In the same year, they also completed an ASET Certificate in Customer Service Excellence from the UK Open Learning College. Lastly, Andrew completed The CIEH Professional Trainers Certificate from Truro College in 2002. More recently, from 2019 to 2021, they earned a Certificate in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors (IoD).
