Laurel Hechanova

Laurel Hechanova's work experience starts with their current role as Design Lead & Co-Founder at Checkin, where they have been working since April 2021. Before that, they were a Designer & Partner at Goodmaker, a tiny studio focused on helping design teams scale themselves thoughtfully and ship products effectively. Laurel joined Goodmaker in July 2018. Laurel also worked as a Mentor & Curriculum Consultant at Springboard from August 2018 to August 2019, where they helped students understand user experience design concepts and provided guidance on career transformations.

Prior to these roles, Laurel worked as a Design Director at Drawn from April 2016 to May 2018. Before that, they worked as a Creative Director, Designer, and Consultant from February 2011 to April 2016. Laurel also gained experience as a UX Design Instructor at General Assembly from November 2015 to February 2016.

Earlier in their career, Laurel worked as a Product Designer at Findery from March 2013 to October 2015. Laurel also served as an Interface and Graphic Designer at mStoner from October 2007 to January 2011.

Laurel's career first started as a Dairy Product Mascot at Foremost Farms USA in 1997, where they increased audience engagement at events through performative anthropomorphism and distributed promotional materials to raise brand awareness.

Laurel Hechanova obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Graphic Design from Columbia College Chicago, where they studied from 2000 to 2004. Prior to that, they pursued Fine and Studio Arts at the University of Guam from 1999 to 2000.
