Carnivore Researcher at Cheetah Conservation Fund

Hanlie Winterbach is a carnivore researcher at Cheetah Conservation Fund since May 2018, focusing on the co-existence of farmers and predators, particularly cheetahs and African wild dogs, in Namibia. As a self-employed researcher since 2017 and former Principal Wildlife Ecologist and Director at Tau Consultants Pty Ltd from 1997 to 2017, Hanlie managed operations, developed long-term monitoring projects, and collaborated on significant research initiatives. Prior experience at the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism included roles as a Nature Conservation Scientist and Environmental Education Officer, where Hanlie worked on medicinal plant trade and environmental education programs. Hanlie holds a PhD in Wildlife Management and multiple degrees in Wildlife Management and Ecology from the University of Pretoria.
