Michael Courtien

Director, Sports Finance & Systems at Chelsea Piers

Michael Courtien has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Michael began their career as a Spring Intern at St. John's University Athletic Communications, where they assisted with game day preparations and wrote features for their website. Michael then worked as a Summer Intern at Long Island Rough Riders, where they handled various tasks in the office and assisted with game day operations.

Courtien also worked at Boar's Head F & B Provisions as a Part-Time Employee before joining the (USTA) United States Tennis Association as a Client Services Representative. In this role, they handled customer concerns through various channels and worked long hours to meet customer demands.

After that, Courtien joined Asphalt Green, where they held multiple positions in the billing department, including Membership Billing Associate, Centralized Billing Coordinator, Centralized Billing Supervisor, and eventually became the Centralized Billing Manager. Their contributions led to the centralization of monthly products across two campuses.

Most recently, Courtien worked at Chelsea Piers, starting as a Junior Financial Controller and progressing to Lead Financial Controller. Michael managed the financial operations for multiple venues and served as a liaison between different departments. Michael was promoted to the role of Senior Financial Controller of Sports Venues, where they provided key insights to the General Managers, VPs, and CFO.

Currently, Courtien is the Director of Sports Finance & Systems at Chelsea Piers, where they oversee financial operations and systems for the sports division.

Michael Courtien attended St. John's University, College of Professional Studies from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management.
