Success Stories Chemposite Honoured by The Dow Chemical Company for High-Quality Fabrication with Derakane Resins San Antonio, Texas, Oct. 22, 1998 - For the second year in a row, The Dow Chemical Company and a panel of industry experts have selected Chemposite, Inc., as a winner in the second annual Fabricator Excellence Awards program for Derakane* Resins. Encouraging innovation and quality in the fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) industry, Fabricator Excellence Awards for Derakane Resins are awarded to the most outstanding FCP projects fabricated with Derakane epoxy vinyl ester resins during the last year. ``Thanks to the outstanding capabilities of fabricators like Chemposite, and the high-quality FRP applications they fabricate for their customers, Dow continues to be the top manufacturer of vinyl ester resins in the FRP industry,`` said Mark Sullivan, Industry Manager for Composites at Dow. ``The Fabricator Excellence Award allows us to recognize fabricators for their contributions to the entire FRP industry.`` Based on Delta, British Columbia, Chemposite was recognized by Dow for the fabrication of four sets of water jet inlet fairings for a new, high-speed catamaran ferry, scheduled to serve the British Columbia area. The fairings, which each measure 1.5 metres x 5 metres, were completed within a tight lead time of eight weeks prior to the launch date. Dow selected the following companies as winners of Fabricator Excellence Awards: Chemopsite Inc., Hardcore DuPont Composites, Lanzo Lining Systems, Specialty Plastics, Inc., and Strongwell. The annual Fabricator Excellence Awards for Derakane Resins encourages innovation and quality in the FRP industry by recognizing companies that have completed the most outstanding FRP applications fabricated with Derakane resins during the year. Winning fabricators were honoured during Composites ‘97 at a special awards ceremony and dinner at EPCOT's Living Seas Restaurant in Orlando, Fla. The ceremony included brief presentations from several industry experts, as well as a special awards presentation, during which each of the fabricators were recognized for their accomplishments.
