Steve Swindell

Chief Appraiser at Cherokee County

Steve Swindell has extensive work experience in the field of appraisals, primarily in Cherokee County. Steve started their career at Rich's Department Stores as an Electronics Salesperson from April 1992 to June 1995. In 1995, they joined Cherokee County as a Lead Residential Appraiser, where they were responsible for measuring and listing residential properties. From 1999 to 2002, they served as a Senior Commercial Appraiser, appraising commercial, industrial, utilities, and exempt properties. Afterwards, they became a Senior Residential Appraiser, overseeing the appraisal of all residential properties in the county and defending appraisals before the Board of Equalization and Superior Court. In 2002, they were promoted to the position of Deputy Chief Appraiser, where they acted as the personnel director for a staff of 32 employees and assisted the Chief Appraiser in their duties. Finally, in December 2015, Steve Swindell became the Chief Appraiser of Cherokee County, responsible for creating the annual tax digest and overseeing all aspects of the process.

Steve Swindell obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting/Communications from Central Michigan University, attending from 1981 to 1985. In addition, they earned an Appraiser IV certification from the Georgia Department of Revenue in September 2000.
