History And Preservation Officer at Cherokee Nation

Catherine Gray is a seasoned professional in historical preservation and education, currently serving as the History and Preservation Officer for Cherokee Nation since October 2012. In this role, Catherine contributes as a tribal historian on the Advisory Committee on History and Culture, consulting for the Cherokee Nation Film Office and Osiyo TV, producing the online video series "The Cherokee Way," and approving historical content for various exhibits and platforms. Prior experience includes work as an Archivist and Interpretive Supervisor for Cherokee Nation Cultural Tourism, where Catherine acquired and managed historical artifacts and facilitated educational initiatives. Additionally, Catherine was a Park Ranger with the National Park Service from March 2005 to May 2008, focusing on interpretive programs related to Native American policies. Catherine holds a degree in History with a focus on Historical Interpretation from the University of Arkansas and further educational credentials from the University of Arkansas Fort Smith and Northeastern State University.
