Kanad Virk

Principal and Head of Private Equity at Chertoff Group

Kanad Virk has a long and varied career in the finance and legal industries. Kanad began their career in 1992 as a Law Clerk for Judge Roger L. Wollman at the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit. In 1993, they moved to Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP as an Associate in the Corporate Department. Kanad then joined Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates in 1995 as an Associate in the Corporate and Energy/Project Finance Groups. In 1998, they were a Vice President in the M&A Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs. In 2003, they became the Chief Operating Officer for both EMEA and Asia in the Private Wealth Management Division at Goldman Sachs. In 2008, they moved to Standard Chartered Bank as the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Principal Finance Division. In 2013, they joined Standard Chartered Private Equity as the Co-Head and then Head of the Energy, Resources and Infrastructure Division. In 2017, they joined The Chertoff Group as the Principal and Head of Private Equity and Principal and Chief Operating Officer.

Kanad Virk began their educational journey at Wellesley High School, where they attended from 1980 to 1983. Kanad then attended Pomona College, graduating in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematical Economics/Theirtory. Virk went on to attend the University of Minnesota Law School, graduating in 1992 with a Doctor of Law (J.D.).
