Amber McGinnis

Director of Development & Executive Director of the Chesapeake College Foundation at Chesapeake College

Amber McGinnis currently serves as the Director of Development and Executive Director of the Chesapeake College Foundation since April 2022. Prior to this role, Amber was the Assistant Director for Communications and Outreach at the Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience at Washington College from January 2021 to March 2022, overseeing all communications and public relations. Amber also held various positions at Chesapeake College from August 2008 to December 2020, including Director of the Honors Program, where responsibilities included program administration and student advising, and Assistant Professor of Communication, developing and delivering course content on various communication topics. Additionally, Amber received the 2018-2020 Stuart M. Bounds Distinguished Teaching Chair award, recognizing excellence in teaching. Earlier in career, Amber was the Director of Advertising and Copywriter for Erickson Retirement Communities, managing significant advertising budgets and a creative team. Amber McGinnis holds a Master of Arts in Communication - Publications Design and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising.
