Matt Garner

Matt Garner, CSP, currently serves as Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment and Regulatory at Chesapeake Energy since November 2022. Garner's extensive experience at ConocoPhillips spanned 15 years, where roles included Global Chief of Health and Safety Assurance, overseeing a dedicated team focused on health and safety for global operations, and Director of HSE Auditing, responsible for the global auditing program. Previous positions involved significant leadership in HSE for the Western North Slope and exploration activities, as well as managing HSE initiatives for Oil Sands operations. Early career experiences included HSE coordination for large-scale projects and internships at ConocoPhillips and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company. Garner holds a B.S. in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University, has completed a Continuing Education Program in Process Safety Management at the University of Washington, and is currently pursuing an Executive Education Program at Rice Business.
