Curtis Byrd has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Curtis started their career at WHSV-TV as a Director in 1987, and later moved on to WAVY-TV where they held the same position until 1993. From 1993 to 1997, they served as the Director of Development at Norfolk Christian Schools. Curtis then worked as the General Manager at The Contract Companies from 1997 to 2004. Following that, they joined The Virginian-Pilot as a Senior Sales Executive until 2009. Curtis then transitioned into the political field, serving as the District Director for the U.S. House of Representatives from 2009 to 2016. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Advocacy and Community Relations at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, a role they have held since 2016.

Curtis Byrd holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Communication from Old Dominion University. Curtis also has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the same university.
