Ben started his career in construction as an apprentice electrician at 16, working at Astra Zeneca in both Alderley Edge and Macclesfield. Ben became fully qualified when he was 19 and continued to work at Astra Zeneca, on the new labs and research complex.
He left to work on various large-scale industrial projects, such as gas plants and tps power stations, as an electrical supervisor. Ben then moved into industrial/manufacturing as an electrical maintenance engineer for a large manufacturing company.
Ben trained as an electrical NVQ assessor and moved into teaching, working at the College’s Crewe campus as a lecturer in Electrical Engineering, Design, Installation and Maintenance in 2017.
Ben is now Assistant Director of Construction at the Ellesmere Port campus, and he want to modernise construction with green technologies and sustainable systems that assist with getting to net zero. He is passionate about looking at modern techniques and technologies used within all aspects of construction for a sustainable future in line with a modern industry.
