Helen Nellist

Deputy Principal & Deputy CEO at Cheshire College

Helen’s background is in Marketing and she has previously worked for some high-profile companies such as Sony, IBM, and Lincoln Software with a focus on corporate marketing. She joined West Cheshire College in 2000 as Marketing Manager and immediately made an impact in transforming the College’s marketing activities. Since then Helen has made an impact in various roles including Area Manager for Creative Arts and Marketing and Vice Principal for Business Development and Services.

In April 2016, Helen was appointed Acting Principal and Chief Executive and asked to develop and deliver a programme of change. Her determination and passion led to a rapid improvement in teaching, learning and assessments as well as outcomes. Helen’s leadership and impact was recognised by Ofsted in December 2016, resulting in an improved Ofsted judgement. She led West Cheshire College to a successful merger with South Cheshire College, providing the College with a strong financial foundation.

Helen is also a member on the Local Enterprise Partnerships Scrutiny Committee, Trustee Board for Blacon High School, a Governor at Upton High School and a Director of the West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber. In her role as a CWP Governor, she aims to actively contribute to addressing mental health issues in the benefit of the service users.

Helen’s role of Deputy Principal and Deputy Chief Executive Officer with a focus on managing the Business Development and Apprenticeships and Marketing and Communications areas for the College.
