Toby Whitney

Toby Whitney is an accomplished technology and policy professional with extensive experience in engineering and management roles. Currently serving as the Director of Platform and AI Engineering at Chewy since February 2022, Toby has previously held significant positions at Amazon as a Senior Software Engineering Manager and at the U.S. House of Representatives as Legislative Director and Fellow. Toby's academic background includes a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English from Syracuse University, complemented by studies at Université Paris-Sorbonne. Additional roles include Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington and a Senior Policy Advisor at the Center for American Progress, alongside notable positions at Microsoft, where Toby contributed as Director of Engineering for Windows Security and Group Program Manager for Social Networking and File System.
