The mission of Project CHI is to build field-wide standard machine-executable models of the human mind that explain the workings of the brain. These models will be used to drive transformative societal impact in mental health, education, economics, and other areas, as well as lead to the development of new AI prototypes that are more human-like and better for humans.

CHI-FRO is a nonprofit focused research organization (FRO)—initially incubated under Convergent Research and more recently through the Probabilistic Computing Foundation—with the mission of delivering Project CHI's objectives and key results: building CHI’s models and the platforms needed to develop and test those models, and growing the ecosystem needed to achieve CHI’s ambitious goals for field-wide research standards and societal impact.
