Anton Endress

Research Associate at Chicago Botanic Garden

Anton Endress has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Anton began their career as a Professional Scientist at the Illinois Natural History Survey in 1980 and worked there for ten years. In 1990, they joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Professor and later became a Professor Emeritus in 2011. During their time at the university, Anton also took on leadership roles as the Teaching Coordinator in the Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Sciences from 2008 to 2011.

In addition to their academic career, Anton has contributed to various organizations and projects. Anton worked as a Research Associate at the Chicago Botanic Garden starting in 2007. Anton also holds a position at E2C, LLC, where they are the Managing Partner since 2018. E2C, LLC specializes in habitat conservation, natural resources sustainability, regenerative agriculture management, and urban forestry. Anton's consultancy services include being a Certified Green Infrastructure Professional since 2019.

Anton's recent work includes serving as the Project Director of Tree San Diego's Trējuvenation project and the National City Urban Wood Processing Center, both funded by CalFire. These projects aim to foster urban biomass business opportunities using circular economy approaches.

Throughout their career, Anton has demonstrated expertise in ecological design, teaching coordination, academic leadership, urban forestry, and habitat conservation.

Anton Endress has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology from Duquesne University. Anton also pursued a Ph.D. in Botany at the University of Iowa. Following their doctoral studies, Anton engaged in Post-Doctoral Research at the University of California, Riverside, focusing on Air Pollution-Plant Interactions.
