Leora Siegel

Senior Director, Lenhardt Library at Chicago Botanic Garden

Leora Siegel has a diverse work experience in the field of library administration. Leora started their career at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1991 as an Acting Assistant Agricultural Librarian and Visiting Assistant Professor of Library Administration. Leora worked in this role until 1994. In 1997, they joined DePaul University as a Reference Librarian and stayed there until 2000. Leora then moved on to the Chicago Botanic Garden, where they held the position of Library Director from 2007 to 2016. In 2016, they were promoted to the role of Senior Director, Lenhardt Library, a position they currently hold.

Leora Siegel has a comprehensive education history. Leora obtained a Bachelor's of Arts degree in History with a Certificate in Medieval Studies from Binghamton University. Furthermore, they acquired a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1989 to 1991. Later on, they pursued another Master's degree at the same university, this time in Natural Resources & Environmental Science from 2000 to 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Leora Siegel also holds several certifications. Leora earned a certification in Fundraising for Collections Care from Heritage Preservation in October 2013. Leora also obtained edX Honor Code Certificates for courses such as Print and Manuscript in Western Europe, Asia and the Middle East (1450-1650) and The History of the Book in 17th and 18th Century Europe, both from edX.
