Kara O'Keefe's work experience begins in 2004 as a Real Estate Assistant at REMAX GOLD REALTY. Kara then worked at Northern Illinois University as a Research Intern in Industrial/Organizational Psychology in 2009. From 2006 to 2011, Kara worked at Brian Bemis Automotive Group in various roles, including Creative Director and Internet Sales Representative. Kara then became a Member Services Coordinator and later a Membership Services Manager at Residential Real Estate Council from 2011 to 2014. Kara O'Keefe joined the American Library Association in 2014 as the Manager of Marketing and Membership for the Public Library Association. In 2019, they moved on to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs as the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing and Design. Recently, in April 2021, they were promoted to the role of Digital Marketing & Creative Director at the same organization. Throughout their career, Kara has demonstrated skills in digital marketing, creative direction, brand positioning, and team management.

Kara O'Keefe holds a Bachelor's of Science in Business Management with a minor in Psychology from Northern Illinois University. Kara also obtained a Master's degree in Design Management and Communications from Georgetown University. In addition to their formal education, Kara has obtained several certifications, including the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging for Leaders and Managers Certificate from LinkedIn in November 2022, the Fundamentals of Digital Marketing certification from Google Digital Garage in November 2022, and the Google Ads Display Certification from Google in August 2018.
