Elizabeth Ricks has a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal field. Elizabeth began their career as a Legal Intern at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, Juvenile Justice Bureau, Child Protection Division in 2007. Elizabeth then worked as a Legal Intern at the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund in 2008, where they researched and analyzed case law and assisted with client intakes.

In 2008, Elizabeth also worked as a Legal Intern at Lambda Legal, where they researched and drafted legal briefs, coordinated potential amici, and researched issues related to civil unions and marriage equality.

Elizabeth continued to gain experience as a Law Clerk at the Law Offices of Patrick Markey in 2008-2009 and as a Part-Time Attorney at Robin Potter and Associates from 2011 to 2012. In these roles, Elizabeth drafted legal documents, conducted legal research, reviewed discovery materials, and assisted in trial preparation.

Elizabeth also volunteered as a Volunteer Staff Attorney at the Transformative Justice Law Project from 2009 to 2014. During their time there, they engaged in advocacy work, authored a conduct guide for judges, presented training classes, and represented clients in various legal matters.

From 2012 to 2018, Elizabeth worked in a Private Practice as an Attorney. In this role, they represented clients in employment discrimination and landlord-tenant matters, negotiated entertainment contracts, advised limited liability corporations, and represented artists in breach of contract cases.

Most recently, Elizabeth served as the Legal Director and Staff Attorney at the Chicago House and Social Service Agency from 2018. Elizabeth'sresponsibilities included representing clients in negotiations for settlements, assisting with post-conviction, employment, family law, and insurance law matters, and providing legal consultations.

Elizabeth Ricks obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from DePaul University College of Law from 2006 to 2009. Prior to that, they earned a Master's Degree in Women's and Gender Studies from Roosevelt University from 2004 to 2006. Elizabeth also obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Women's Studies, and Black World Studies from Loyola University Chicago from 1999 to 2003. Additionally, they obtained certifications for Bar Admission in the state of New York in July 2010 and in the state of Illinois in November 2009.
