Shana Novak

Shana Novak is an experienced librarian currently serving as the Head of Technical Services at the Chicago Public Library since August 2020. In this role, Shana provides strategic management for the Technical Services Department, overseeing cataloging, metadata, database management, and physical processing while supervising a team of fourteen staff members. Previously, Shana was a Catalog Librarian at Dayton Metro Library, where expertise in OCLC database cataloging and RDA practices was leveraged. Shana's earlier experience includes various positions at Massachusetts General Hospital, where management of gift processing operations and staff training were key responsibilities. Shana’s educational background includes a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Simmons University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Classical Civilization from Oberlin College.
