Lauren Clair-McClellan

Interim Chief Talent Officer at Chicago Public Schools

As Interim Chief Talent Officer, Lauren Clair-McClellan works to ensure that CPS employees feel supported and empowered throughout all stages of their careers. She also oversees the District’s efforts to provide all students access to diverse, quality educators.

Prior to this role, Lauren served as the Deputy Chief Talent Officer. In this position, she helped develop strategies to maximize efficiency for critical processes such as staffing, onboarding, and accommodations in support of health and safety protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lauren began her association with CPS as a pro bono resource from Arthur Andersen assisting with designing the T.I.M.E. Project, a program to improve education management. She then transitioned into CPS as an HR coordinator and has progressively advanced in the Talent Office over the past 25 years.

Lauren was born on the South Side of Chicago, where she still resides. She has two daughters who both attended CPS high schools. Lauren holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Chicago State University.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys reading, spending time with her family and friends, and traveling, especially to visit her granddaughter Dylan in Washington D.C.
