Shanell Bowden

Shanell Bowden is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as Senior Assistant General Counsel for Chicago Public Schools since January 2023. Prior to this role, Shanell held the position of Assistant Legal Counsel at the Illinois State Board of Education from November 2019 to January 2023. Shanell's experience includes serving as a Staff Attorney at Equip for Equality from May 2018 to November 2019, and as Assistant Director of Governmental Relations and Policy Consultant at the Illinois Association of School Boards from March 2016 to May 2018. Shanell earned a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2015 and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Pre-Law focus from Hampton University in 2012.
