Farming Operations Representative at Chicken Farmers of Ontario

Lianne (Lia) Appleby has a diverse work experience in communications, marketing, and public relations roles. Lianne (Lia) began their career as a Newsletter Editor at the Poultry Industry Council in 1999. Lianne (Lia) then worked as a Communications Specialist at Chicken Farmers of Ontario from 2002 to 2005. From 2005 to 2010, they served as the Communications Manager for Beef Farmers of Ontario, where they advocated for beef farmers and worked on various industry initiatives. For two years, from 2010 to 2012, they were the Marketing and Communications Manager at Hybrid Turkeys, overseeing sales and technical service representatives worldwide. Lia then joined Annex Business Media as an Editor for Canadian Poultry magazine and later became the Digital Editor for AgAnnex, where they provided industry news and resources for the agriculture sector. Lianne (Lia) also served as the Event Chair for the Careers in Agriculture Expo, connecting newcomers to the industry with professionals. Lianne (Lia) continued their editorial roles as the Associate Editor for Top Crop Manager magazine and later as the Editor for Canadian Poultry magazine. Lianne (Lia) then worked as a Public Relations, Marketing & Communications contractor at Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph from 2018 to 2019. In 2019, they took on the position of Communications and Marketing Manager at the Huntington Society of Canada, raising funds and supporting individuals and families affected by Huntington disease. Most recently, since November 2020, Lia has been working as a Farming Operations Representative at the Chicken Farmers of Ontario, representing and supporting Ontario chicken farms.

Lianne (Lia) Appleby's education history begins with their primary education at Lantern Lane Primary School from 1982 to 1988. Lianne (Lia) then attended Harry Carlton Comprehensive School from 1988 to 1990. Lianne proceeded to Caledon East PS in 1990 and Willow Rd. PS in 1991. Their high school education was completed at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute from 1992 to 1997, where they focused on English and Creative Writing. Lianne (Lia) pursued a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the University of Guelph from 1997 to 2001. Following that, Lianne obtained a Master of Science in Poultry (Broiler) Nutrition from the University of Guelph in 2001-2002.
