Debbie has worked in various roles at organizations such as Boys Town National Research Hospital, Nebraska Medicine, and Children's Hospital & Medical Center - Omaha. Debbie is also the creator of the ONE VOICE approach, a program designed to create a more emotionally safe environment for children and families during medical procedures. Additionally, Debbie is involved in Child Life Disaster Relief and Reimagine Well, focusing on empowering children and families in crises through innovative approaches.

Vision: To develop a coordinated and global network to ensure that children in disasters and crises have the tools and support needed to promote positive coping and resilience. Mission: To integrate child life professionals’ expertise through partnering with global organizations to empower and support children in disasters and crises. Through utilization of play and therapeutic activities, child life specialists promote coping and resilience. Components of education, expertise, research, materials and interventions will ensure safe, respectful and effective support.
