Steven Martel

Steven Martel, MD has extensive experience in the healthcare industry. Steven is currently the VP, Chief Health Information Officer at CHOC Children's since January 2023. Prior to this role, they served as the Associate Chief Health Information Officer at the same company from April 2021 to January 2023.

From July 2019 to April 2021, Dr. Martel was the Co-founder of the Clinical Transformation Office at Central Maine Healthcare. Before that, they held the position of Chief Medical Information Officer at Central Maine Health Care from July 2016 to April 2021.

Dr. Martel served as the Chief Operating Officer at Discover Health Medical Partners, Inc. from July 2012 to June 2016. Steven also co-founded and served as President of Child's Light Pediatrics, Inc., an innovative, comprehensive care house call based medical practice for children, from September 2006 to July 2012.

Their earlier experiences include working as the Director of Pediatric Critical Care Transport and Assist Medical Director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Group at California Pacific Medical Center from February 2004 to January 2008. Steven also served as a Physician Leader in Neonatal & Pediatric Critical Care Transport at UCSF Children's Hospital from June 2002 to January 2004, where they played a key role in recruitment, training, and quality improvement initiatives.

Dr. Steven Martel completed their residency in Pediatrics from the University of California, San Francisco - School of Medicine from 1999 to 2002. Prior to their residency, they earned an A.B. magna cum laude dual major in Mathematics and Biology from Bowdoin College. Dr. Martel obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont. Steven is additionally certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
