Nicole Kartus (Tu) has a diverse range of work experience. Nicole started their career in 2013 as a Research Assistant at the UCLA CART Infant Sibling Lab, where they conducted assessments, wrote reports for families, and performed data entry tasks. From 2013 to 2019, Nicole worked at the Kasari Research Lab as a Staff Research Associate II. In this role, they administered developmental interventions and standardized assessments for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and other conditions. Nicole also trained parents in implementing behavioral and language interventions. Nicole then interned as a Social Worker at the Lawndale Elementary School District from 2017 to 2018. In 2018, they joined the Long Beach Unified School District as a Foster Youth Unit Social Work Intern. Currently, Nicole works at the Children's Institute as a Mental Health Therapist, providing psychotherapy to clients ages 5 and older. Nicole utilizes evidence-based practices, such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to help clients reduce mental health symptoms and improve their quality of life.
Nicole Kartus (Tu), MSW, ACSW pursued their education with a strong focus on psychology and community mental health. Nicole obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles from 2009 to 2013. In 2017, they furthered their education by pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at California State University, Fullerton, specializing in the field of Community Mental Health.
