Shannon Couffer

Shannon Couffer has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Shannon currently holds the position of Vice President, Associate General Counsel at Children's Health since October 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Legal Risk and Compliance Operations at Baylor Scott & White Health from November 2019 to October 2021. Shannon has also worked at Walgreen Co., where they held the role of Senior Director Global Internal Investigations and Legal Operations from December 2018 to October 2019. At Walgreens, they served as the Director and Managing Counsel - Regulatory Law & Head of Legal Operations from February 2013 to October 2019, and as a Senior Attorney, Litigation and Regulatory Law from July 2006 to February 2013. Shannon started their legal career as an Attorney at the Lake County State's Attorney's Office, where they worked from May 1995 to July 2006, focusing on civil litigation. Shannon also has experience as a School Nurse at Hawthorn School District from August 1995 to March 1997. Shannon's expertise includes legal risk and compliance, internal investigations, regulatory law, and civil litigation.

Shannon Couffer obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, IN from 1990 to 1994. Shannon went on to earn a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Loyola University Chicago from 1994 to 1996. Shannon later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Organizational Leadership from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management from 2017 to 2019. In addition to their degrees, they also hold a certification as a Registered Nurse from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation, obtained in May 1994.
