J. Steven Leeder

Executive Director (interim), Children’s Mercy Research Institute at Children's Mercy Kansas City

J. Steven Leeder has had a significant career in research and leadership roles within pediatric healthcare organizations. J. Steven began their work with Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in 2000, serving as the Chief of the Section of Developmental Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. In 2008, Leeder transitioned to Children's Mercy Kansas City, where they held multiple positions including Chief of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Medical Toxicology. From there, they went on to become the Director of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutic Innovation and later the Deputy Director of both the Children's Mercy Research Institute and the Children's Research Institute. Leeder then assumed the role of Associate Chair for Research in the Department of Pediatrics and is currently serving as the Interim Executive Director of the Children's Mercy Research Institute.

J. Steven Leeder obtained a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto in 1980. J. Steven then pursued a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota, completing it in 1982. Following that, they enrolled in the University of Toronto again and earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacology between 1984 and 1989.
