Kara Speciale

Kara Speciale has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Kara began their career at Deloitte in 1999, where they worked as a Consultant in Enterprise Risk Services. Over the years, they progressed to the roles of Senior Consultant, Manager, and eventually Senior Manager, leading client service life cycles for numerous financial services and technology clients.

In 2013, Kara joined NBH Bank as the Chief Information Security Officer, focusing on Information Security Policy, Governance, Risk, and Compliance. Kara'sresponsibilities included implementing and maintaining security programs to enhance the organization's security posture.

After leaving NBH Bank in 2016, they joined SS&C Technologies as the Business Unit Information Security Officer, serving as a liaison between the financial services business unit and Enterprise Security & Privacy. Kara'srole involved driving awareness and implementation of security policies within the organization.

Kara's most recent position was at Children's Mercy Kansas City, where they held the role of Director, Information Security Governance Risk & Compliance from 2019 to 2022. In this role, they led the Governance, Risk, and Compliance directorate of the Information Security Program, overseeing various aspects such as policy development, risk assessments, security awareness, and disaster recovery.

Throughout their career, Kara has demonstrated their expertise in information security, risk management, and compliance in various industries, including finance, healthcare, and technology.

Kara Speciale received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University from 1995 to 1999. Kara also holds certifications in Certified Information Systems Auditor and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls from ISACA.
