Raj Shekhar has a diverse work experience spanning over several prestigious organizations. Raj started their career at Picker (now Philips Healthcare) as a Senior Engineer in 1997 and later worked at the Cleveland Clinic as a Project Staff Scientist. In 2004, Raj joined the University of Maryland, Baltimore as an Associate Professor where they led research and development in real-time 3D image registration and image-guided procedures. Raj then moved on to establish IGI Technologies in 2007, a startup company focused on commercializing high-speed 3D medical image registration. Raj also worked at Children's National Medical Center as a Principal Investigator, leading research and development of novel medical technologies. In 2015, they founded AusculTech Dx to commercialize the StethAid technology. Currently, Raj holds the positions of Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Raj Shekhar obtained a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, from 1985 to 1989. Raj then pursued an MS in Bioengineering at Arizona State University from 1989 to 1991. Afterward, Raj attended The Ohio State University, where they earned a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from 1991 to 1997.
