Dawn Schwartz has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of neonatal care. Dawn began their career as a Travel & Agency NICU Staff RN at HRN Services in 2001. Dawn then worked as an NICU Staff RN at Saint Luke's Health System from 2006 to 2007. In 2002, they joined Children's Mercy Hospital where they served as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Charge RN, ECMO Clinician, and Staff RN until 2008.
In 2011, they worked as a Neonatal Transport Nurse Practitioner at HCA Midwest Neonatal Transport Services. From 2010 to 2014, they served as the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Coordinator at Mercy Medical Center - West Lakes. In 2013, they took on additional roles at Mercy Children's Hospital & Clinics as the Unit Nursing Director of the Variety Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Transport Coordinator until 2016.
During this time, they also worked as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital from 2016 to 2016. From 2008 to 2017, they worked as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at HCA. Dawn then joined St. Luke's Hospital in 2016 as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner until 2022.
Currently, Dawn Schwartz holds the positions of Vice President of Care Quality and Director of Nursing & Pediatric Palliative Care Consultant at ChildServe since September 2021.
Dawn Schwartz has a strong education background in nursing. Dawn earned their Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a focus on Nursing Leadership from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2020. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science in Nursing-NNP, specializing in Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, from the same university in 2008. Dawn also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, obtained from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2006.
Dawn has additional certifications including Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) from The National Certification Corporation, Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB), Certified Hospice and Palliative Pediatric Nurse (CHPPN) from the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) from the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), Certified in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP) from the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, and Registered Nurse from the Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON). Dawn also completed the Lactation Consultant Education Program from UC San Diego.
Furthermore, Dawn holds the credentials of NNP-BC from The National Certification Corporation and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.
