Kevin Yates

Kevin Yates CPRP has extensive experience in various roles within the field of park and recreation management. Kevin began their career in 2000 as the Executive Director of the Chillicothe Park District. In this role, they oversaw the operations and management of the park district.

In 2002, Kevin joined the Board of Directors for the Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association (HISRA). HISRA aims to provide recreational programs and services to individuals with disabilities and special needs, in accordance with the Americans With Disabilities Act.

In 2016, Kevin became a member of the Board of Directors for Pearce Community Center. This non-profit organization provides a wide range of recreational and fitness services to the community, including an indoor pool, gymnasiums, fitness programs, and summer camps for children.

Kevin also served as a member of the Board of Directors for Central Illinois Recreation & Leisure Entities (CIRCLE) from 2017 to 2019. CIRCLE is an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting recreational activities in the region.

In 2018, Kevin joined the Board of Directors for the Chillicothe Illinois Chamber of Commerce. In this role, they led the board in coordinating chamber activities and acted as a spokesperson for the membership and business community.

Most recently, in 2019, Kevin became a member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Association of Park Districts. In this capacity, they helped set policies and organized an insurance alternative through a member-owned risk-sharing pool, specifically tailored to the needs of park districts and similar agencies.

Additionally, Kevin is set to join the Member Board of Directors for the Pearce Foundation in 2023. The foundation aims to provide financial security to Pearce Community Center through planned gifts and donations.

Kevin Yates CPRP has a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies from Eastern Illinois University, which they obtained from 1996 to 2000. Kevin then attended the National Recreation and Park Association Directors School at North Carolina State University from 2009 to 2010, where they studied Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies. In 2009, they also became a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) through the National Recreation and Parks Association. Prior to their higher education, Kevin graduated from Richwoods High School in 1996. In terms of additional certifications, Kevin obtained a CPR & AED certification from the American Heart Association in August 2022, a ServSafe Manager certification from ServSafe in April 2021, and an additional Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification from the National Recreation and Park Association in September 2021.
