Wayne Yao

Wayne Yao is a seasoned legal and compliance professional with extensive experience in investment management. Currently serving as Managing Director of the Legal & Compliance Department at China Investment Corporation since March 2021, Wayne Yao has been instrumental in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating transaction documents related to global investments, while providing critical advisory support on compliance and corporate governance. Prior to this role, Wayne Yao held multiple managing director positions at CIC Capital Corporation from July 2015 to March 2021, overseeing global investments in various sectors, including as head of the metals and mining team. Wayne Yao originally started a corporate law career in prestigious international law firms from September 2003 to December 2009 after obtaining a Juris Doctor and an MBA from Northwestern University, along with a Bachelor of Laws from Capital University of Economics and Business.
