Dirk Engels

Dirk Engels is a highly experienced public health professional specializing in neglected tropical diseases, currently serving as Senior Advisor at Uniting to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases since January 2018 and as an Adjunct Professor at the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention since December 2017. Previous roles include Consultant at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, a long tenure at the World Health Organization focused on the control of neglected tropical diseases, and research at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. Dirk Engels holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Antwerp, a PhD in Parasitology from Hogeschool Leiden, and a Master of Science in Health Services Research from Erasmus University Rotterdam, alongside additional diplomas in Tropical Medicine and Epidemiological Methods applied to Medicine.
