Lilli Dang

Assistant Manager, Citizenship Program at Chinese Mutual Aid Association

Lilli Dang was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She immigrated to the City of Chicago with her family in 1988 and has since lived in the Uptown neighborhood.

Beginning in 2000, Lilli has worked for CMAA helping immigrants and refugees become U.S. citizens. On any given day, Lilli sees about ten to twelve clients educating them on the process of gaining citizenship and helping low-income individuals waive fees to do so. Lilli has become the primary source of information on the naturalization process for many community members in the Uptown neighborhood and surrounding communities.

Lilli not only informs clients and newcomers about the process of becoming U.S. citizens, but she also makes sure that these individuals are aware of their right to vote once the process is completed. She encourages her clients to become registered voters and emphasizes the need for their voices to be heard.
