Yana Lechtman

Yana Lechtman, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Tel-Aviv University (Israel), double majoring in Psychology and Sociology-Anthropology. She then continued her education and training as a clinical psychologist at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University (NYC). There she also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Lenox-Hill Hospital (NYC). Her work has been presented at the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) conferences. She also contributed to several published articles and wrote the Self-Discovery Journal — 52 Weeks of Reflection, Inspiration, and Growth.

Working with children, adults, and families in various hospitals and community settings, Dr. Lechtman has extensive experience providing care to those who suffer from severe and persistent mental illness, including psychosis spectrum disorders, mood disorders, suicidality, and self-harm. Since leaving her hospital-based work, Dr. Lechtman has worked at the Galynker Family Center for Bipolar Disorders and in her private practice (NYC). Currently, she supports individuals and families through challenges around emotional dysregulation, difficulties in relationships, issues of transitions and identity development, and cultural diversity.

With an integrative perspective, Dr. Lechtman combines insight-oriented approaches with skill-based treatments. She emphasizes the ability to be curious and playful in self-exploration and be kind and compassionate while working towards developing meaningful connections, the flexibility of mind, and the ability to understand and cope with any emotional experience that life brings.

In recent years, Dr. Lechtman’s interest and dedication have been focused on psychedelic and plant medicine and its enhancement of the psychotherapeutic process. She is passionate about working from a holistic perspective with non-ordinary states of consciousness, psychedelic harm reduction and integration, and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. She has been training through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (in collaboration with MAPS) and Fluence. Her practice offers psychedelic harm reduction and integration services and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.
