Larry Filer

Larry Filer currently serves as the Vice President for Facilities and Campus Operations at Christopher Newport University, a position held since April 2024. Previously, Filer worked as the City Manager for the City of Norfolk, VA from September 2019 to June 2023. Prior to that, Filer dedicated two decades to Old Dominion University, where roles included Associate Vice President for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, Chair of the Department of Economics, Associate Professor of Economics, Associate Dean for Executive Programs and External Affairs, Director of the MBA Program, and Assistant Professor of Economics. Filer's educational background includes a PhD and MA in Economics from the University of Kentucky, as well as a BA in Economics from Westminster College (PA). Current research interests focus on changes to the US Bankruptcy Code and its impact on households.
