Patrick Cheng

Senior Vice President, Business Compliance at Church Pension Group

Patrick Cheng has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the field of theology and compliance. Patrick is currently a Visiting Professor of Anglican Studies at Union Theological Seminary. Prior to this, they served as the Senior Vice President of Business Compliance and Client Benefits and Education Compliance at Church Pension Group. Patrick also held positions such as Associate Priest at the Church of the Transfiguration and Theologian in Residence at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue. Earlier in their career, they were an Associate Rector at The Church of the Transfiguration and an Affiliated Associate Professor of Theology at Chicago Theological Seminary. Patrick also worked as the Chief Compliance Officer at Church Pension Group, and as an Associate Professor of Historical and Systematic Theology at Episcopal Divinity School. Before transitioning into the field of theology, they started their career as an Associate Attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.

Patrick Cheng attended Yale University from 1986 to 1990, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature. From 1990 to 1993, they pursued a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at Harvard Law School, focusing on Law. Later, from 1998 to 2010, Patrick Cheng studied at Union Theological Seminary, completing a Ph.D., M.Phil., and M.A. in Systematic Theology.
