Amer Shreim

Amer Shreim, PhD, currently serves as the Head of Quantitative Investing at CIBC Asset Management, leading a team of seven quantitative analysts in managing CAD $3 billion across global equity strategies since May 2017. Prior to this role, Amer held positions at BlackRock as a Director in Alternatives, managing teams focused on hedge fund support and developing innovative risk models, and at CPP Investment Board as a Senior Associate overseeing a $30 billion hedge fund portfolio. Previous experience also includes a role as Senior Manager at RBC Global Asset Management, where a systematic trend-following equity strategy was developed and co-managed. Amer's earlier positions involved risk analysis at Scotiabank and research roles during doctoral studies at the University of Calgary, as well as at the American University of Beirut. Educational credentials include a PhD in Physics with a focus on Complexity Science from the University of Calgary, and master's and bachelor's degrees in Physics from the American University of Beirut.
