Fernando Lopitz Otsoa

Fernando Lopitz Otsoa is an experienced academic and researcher in the fields of health sciences and biological sciences. Currently serving as an Invited Professor at the University of Deusto since October 2021, Fernando focuses on genetic events related to syndromes and diseases, emphasizing clinical skills and advanced molecular genetics tools for genetic counseling. With a long tenure at CIC bioGUNE as a Research Assistant and Technical Staff since April 2006, Fernando has been involved in project development and research. Previous roles include work in biotechnology at Laboratorios Bromatológicos Araba, and various research positions at the University of the Basque Country, where initiatives centered on rapid detection systems for Salmonella were undertaken. Fernando holds a Doctorate in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Biochemistry, alongside advanced diplomas in Immunology, Microbiology, and Parasitology from the University of the Basque Country.

CIC bioGUNE (Center for Cooperative Research in Biosciences) is a non-profit biomedical research organization, founded in 2003 at the initiative of the Department of Industry of the Basque Government.
