Romel Pascual

Romel Pascual has an extensive work history in environmental protection and sustainability. Romel has served as the Executive Director of CicLAvia since 2015, where they have raised over $10 million in revenue, expanded the frequency of events, and significantly increased the organization's social media following. Prior to this role, Pascual worked for the City of Los Angeles as the Deputy Mayor of Energy & Environment from 2008 to 2013. In this role, they oversaw a multimillion-dollar budget, secured funding for various projects, and led international delegations on sustainability issues. Pascual also held the position of Director of Environment for the City of Los Angeles from 2005 to 2008, during which they developed the city's GreenLA Climate Change Action Plan and led initiatives in alternative waste management and energy efficiency. Before their work with the City of Los Angeles, Pascual was a Regional Program Manager for the US Environmental Protection Agency from 1997 to 2005. In this role, they managed environmental justice programs, established a national grant program, and organized a summit that led to increased environmental enforcement efforts. Pascual also briefly served as the Assistant Secretary for Environmental Justice at the California Environmental Protection Agency from 2000 to 2004.
