Dr. Laila Iskandar is our founding partner, former Chairperson and unwavering social compass for our business and clients. Formerly Minister of State for Urban Renewal and Informal Settlements in Egypt, and Minister of State for Environmental Affairs, Dr. Iskandar connects her extensive experience and networks to deliver projects with positive social, economic and environmental impact.

With thirty years’ practice across grass roots communities and, informal settlements, she is known for addressing issues of Urban Poverty, creating opportunities for recycling SME's using a value chain analysis approach. She leads CID’s team on Education and Development projects covering full range of formal and non-formal learning contexts.

She represented CID Consulting when we were voted as ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year’ 2006 at the World Economic Forum by the Schwab Foundation for a sustainable recycling school with UNESCO.

Dr. Iskandar is a graduate of Cairo University, UC Berkeley, California and Columbia University, New York. She has been a jury member to UNESCO’s International Literacy Prize, UNESCO’s Resource Person for the Arab region since 2005 on the United Nations Literacy Decade and Education for Sustainable Development, as well as Education Advisor for Egypt’s Canadian International Development Agency.
