Doug Loose

Doug Loose has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Doug started their career as an Engineer at Pratt & Whitney in 1989. Doug then worked as a Senior Engineer at Siemens Westinghouse Power Corp. from 1993 to 1999. Following this, Doug joined CiDRA in 1999 and held various roles including Vice President, Applications Engineering and Technology & Business Development until December 2019. In 2020, they became a First Officer at Republic Airways before transitioning to Avelo Airlines as a First Officer in March 2022. Currently, Doug holds the position of Captain at Avelo Airlines since February 2023.

Doug Loose has a strong educational background in Aeronautics and Astronautics, as well as Mechanical Engineering. Doug obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1987 to 1989. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University from 1985 to 1987. Before attending Penn State, they also pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University-Erie Campus from 1983 to 1985.

In addition to their formal education, Doug Loose holds several certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These certifications include an Airline Transport Pilot rating for the Airline Multi-Engine Land (AMEL) and Commercial Single-Engine Land (SEL) categories.
