Varghese Baby

Varghese Baby is a seasoned professional in intellectual property management, currently serving as the Global Patent Portfolio Leader at Ciena since July 2014, where responsibilities include developing a strategic global patent portfolio with a substantial budget and driving innovation within R&D teams. Prior experience includes roles as a Patent Agent at Wi-LAN, Inc. and BlackBerry, where Varghese Baby focused on patent prosecution and portfolio management across various technologies, including display and security technologies. Additional experience includes serving as a Patent Associate/Agent at MBM Intellectual Property Law, and conducting post-doctoral research at McGill University in photonics and telecommunications. Varghese Baby holds a BTech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and an M.S. & Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University.
