Sufia Khatun

Sufia Khatun, PhD, is a Data Science Senior Manager at Cigna since January 2020, leading multiple machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) projects to enhance healthcare systems and automate processes. With a strong background in developing strategies for model documentation and mentoring in data science, Sufia has significantly contributed to Cigna's internal initiatives, including the data science summit and talent development programs. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Data Scientist at KPMG, where Sufia conducted audits of ML models and developed extraction models for government clients, and as a Data Scientist in independent research. Sufia also served as Assistant Professor at the College of Staten Island and has extensive academic training in Physics, holding a Ph.D. from the Graduate Center, City University of New York.
