Lindsey Vansandt

Director, Imperiled Cat Signature Project at Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden

Lindsey Vansandt has a diverse work experience in the field of animal conservation and reproductive research. Lindsey started their career as a Reproductive Research Intern at the Saint Louis Zoo in 2008 and worked there until 2009. Lindsey then pursued a PhD at the University of Maryland in collaboration with the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute from 2009 to 2014. After completing their PhD, Lindsey joined the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden in 2014 as a Post-Doctoral Scientist, where they worked until 2017. Lindsey then took on the role of Theriogenologist at the same organization from 2018 to 2023. Currently, they are serving as the Director of the Imperiled Cat Signature Project at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.

Lindsey Vansandt began their education in 2000 at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where they studied Animal Sciences and Biology. Lindsey completed their undergraduate studies in 2004. From 2004 to 2008, Lindsey attended the University of Missouri-Columbia again, where they pursued a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After receiving their veterinary degree, they furthered their education at the University of Maryland from 2009 to 2014, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Animal Sciences.
